The iPhone Duo has in customers' hands for a week, and developers have produced some truly impressive apps and games that make the most of Apple's first foldable display. Here are 10 that we like.
Developers have been hard at work updating existing apps and building new ones ever since Apple announced the iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026. And this being a brand-new device, they had plenty of work to do just to make old apps look their best both on the internal 7.6-inch display and the outer 5.4-inch screen.
Thankfully, this isn't the App Store's first rodeo, and developers have risen to the occasion before. The arrival of the iPad in 2010 meant building whole new versions of existing apps. The Apple Watch changed things again in 2015.
In 2026, the iPhone Duo provides new ways for apps to display information beyond the extra display. Holding and folding the iPhone Duo in different ways and positions opens the door to new ways to use apps, too.
Here, we've built a list of the 10 apps and games that really show off what the iPhone Duo can do. Whether you've been using your iPhone Duo for a week, or you're still waiting for yours to arrive, this is the list that you've been waiting for.
Netflix
Netflix might not be the first company that you think of when looking for great examples of iPhone Duo apps, but it should be. After ignoring the Apple Vision Pro, Netflix has been much more keen on putting its best foot forward for iPhone Duo.
The newly updated Netflix app dynamically adapts to which display you're using, and in which orientation. Whether you watch in full-screen mode, using the book or tent poses, or a tabletop view, Netflix reacts accordingly.
Part of that reaction is to put media playback controls on the lower part of the display when using the tabletop pose. Propping the iPhone Duo up in tent mode gives you a full-screen landscape view without needing a stand. The app even reacts to the angle of the hinge, too.
- Netflix is a free download with a subscription required to watch content.
Flighty
Flighty has long been a favorite among many iPhone owners who want lightning-fast airplane and airport data when traveling. With iPhone Duo, the app has been refreshed accordingly.
When opened, the iPhone Duo's display offers a full-sized map alongside full flight data, side-by-side. This approach gives you a more detailed view than any other iPhone can manage.
In tent mode, Flighty uses the landscape outer display to provide flight details hands-free, perfect for placing on a tray table.
Deck-Man
Deck-Man is a return to the days of the early App Store, when apps like iBeer brought the whimsy to iPhones everywhere. The app turns your iPhone Duo into a retro cassette player that uses your Apple Music library.
With Deck-Man, you can choose an album and insert the tape, then close the iPhone Duo to start playback. You'll hear all of the mechanical movements and clicks that owners of old Walkman players will remember, too.
- Deck-Man costs $4.99 and is available in the App Store now.
MD Vinyl
Similar to Deck-Man, MD Vinyl brings a touch of nostalgia to your music in a whole new way. The app combines the ritual of listening to a vinyl record with the convenience of digital music.
When used on an iPhone Duo, MD Vinyl can be used in desktop mode with the record spinning on the bottom of the display and album art shown above. Tent mode props the iPhone Duo up and uses the outer display to show your music's album art alongside a spinning record.
With the iPhone Duo open, MD Vinyl uses the inner display to show album artwork alongside a playlist for easier navigation.
Toastie
Toastie is the first game on our list, and it brings to mind the kind of games that made smart use of the Nintendo DS's foldable form factor over 20 years ago. In this case, gamers are tasked with building a sandwich to specification as quickly as possible.
Toastie is played on the iPhone Duo's inner, foldable display and looks gorgeous. Where the fun comes in is when it's time to turn the sandwich into a toastie.
With the sandwich complete, gamers close the iPhone Duo to "toast" the sandwich before reopening it to reveal the finished article. It's great fun, just don't try to make a real toastie with your $2,000 iPhone Duo.
- Toastie costs $2.99 and is available in the App Store now.
Delta
We've long been fans of Delta, a retro game emulator for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Now, we're even bigger fans of its iPhone Duo update.
Many Delta fans have used the app to emulate Nintendo DS games, and it's great at it. But the Nintendo DS is a foldable device with two displays, so it isn't at its best on a normal iPhone.
On an iPhone Duo, however, everything changes. The new Delta update turns a half-folded iPhone Duo into an actual Nintendo DS, faithfully replicating its interface and dual displays.
Just like the real thing, closing an iPhone Duo with Delta running also puts the emulated Nintendo DS into sleep mode. We're not saying you should buy a foldable iPhone just to play Nintendo DS games, but it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.
Tiny Computers
Tiny Computers turns your iPhone Duo into a range of devices inspired by decades of iconic machines. In tabletop mode, an iPhone Duo can become everything from a classic Commodore 64 to Apple's own iconic Macintosh.
Laptops look particularly great on an iPhone Duo in tabletop mode. By using the familiar laptop form factor, the iPhone sports interactive keyboards that even click as you type.
Tiny Computers doesn't just make your iPhone Duo look like a classic machine; it makes it work like one, too. You can use apps, open windows, even draw and write notes for the perfect waltz down memory lane.
PianoFold
Fans of Guitar Hero and Rock Band will know what to do as soon as PianoFold appears on an iPhone Duo's foldable display. Set the iPhone Duo up in tabletop mode, and colorful tiles slide from the top half of the display towards color-matched buttons on the bottom.
From here, your fingers will take over. They'll tap the pads as the colored tiles fall to meet them in a familiar rhythm game pattern. But the iPhone Duo takes things a step further by turning your room into the stage.
Via the iPhone Duo's camera, PianoFold uses your room as the background for the game itself. The game features 40 pieces of music for you to play along to, from Beethoven to Joplin and beyond.
- PianoFold is a free download with an in-app purchase required to unlock the full game.
Fineliner

Fineliner is a notebook app for iPhone and iPad, but it's at its best when used on an iPhone Duo. You'll also want to use an Apple Pencil (USB-C) to get the most out of it, too.
At first blush, Fineliner is another note-taking app. But things change when you're asked to draw the elements that will ultimately become the app's on-screen interface. You can even hand-draw the font, too.
You can type into Fineliner, but Apple Pencil support means it's quicker and easier to write directly on the screen instead. That also turns the iPhone Duo into the closest thing to a real notebook we've seen yet.
A great combination of whimsical app design and really useful features, Fineliner is worth a place on all iPhone Duo Home Screens.
DexFold
Made specifically for foldable devices, DexFold turns the iPhone Duo into a Pokedex with support for over 1,000 Pokemon. Fold the iPhone Duo slightly, and you'll be shown a screen full of data, including stats, moves, and evolutions.
When open, the iPhone Duo looks and behaves like a real book-like Pokedex. Close the iPhone Duo, and you'll see what appears to be a closed book. You can even use the iPhone's camera to scan Pokemon to be added to DexFold.
