AirPods get new features just like every other Apple device, including big additions like Live Translation and Hearing Aid. And in iOS 27, the new Siri AI is set to make AirPods better than ever.

Siri AI in iOS 27 unlocks more powerful AirPods experiences

iOS 27 adds new features for CarPlay, Apple Notes, Messages, Wallet, and a lot more.

The update also includes some new AirPods features: custom EQ and GymKit support. AirPods settings have also been revamped with a new design and layout.

But the single biggest AirPods upgrade in iOS 27 is easily set to be the new Siri.

When Apple demoed Siri AI during the WWDC keynote, it focused on iPhone primarily, but clarified an important detail: “All these updates to Siri extend to CarPlay as well as AirPods.”

That means AirPods users are about to benefit from a much smarter, more powerful AI assistant than ever before.

Here’s a sampling of iOS 27’s new Siri AI features, via Apple’s website:

  • Conversational: “Siri AI is your conversational AI assistant with entirely new capabilities…Ask open-ended questions, brainstorm ideas for work or creative projects on the go, and engage in natural, back-and-forth conversations.”
  • World Knowledge: “Ask about virtually any topic that’s on your mind, from important facts to recipes and restaurant recommendations. Siri AI can reference information online to give you detailed, up-to-date insights.”
  • Personal Context: “Siri AI can find relevant answers to what you’re looking for just by asking. Search for a photo from years ago, easily locate an email buried in your inbox, or pull up a note you saved on your iPhone.”
  • App Actions: “Siri AI can take actions in apps like Messages, Music, Reminders, and more based on what you’re doing in the moment. Quickly edit a message you just sent or add a song you hear in the car to your workout playlist.”

If you have a compatible iPhone, you can even customize Siri’s pace and expressivity to your exact preferences.

Siri and AirPods have always been a great match. But it’s not hard to imagine how much more useful AirPods will be with all these new capabilities.

It’s still early in the iOS 27 beta, but with everything I’ve seen so far of Siri AI, I’m excited to finally have a more powerful assistant—and even more reason to wear AirPods every day.
