watchOS 27 brings Apple's new AI-powered Siri, expanded health features, and smarter everyday tools to the Apple Watch.
As anticipated, watchOS 27 didn't bring a massive overhaul to Apple Watch, but instead brought the device in line with the rest of the Apple ecosystem. This isn't surprising; Apple has been spending the last few years explaining its plans to do just that.
Here's what Apple brought to watchOS 27.
Siri AI
Apple made it clear that it would bring its new, improved Siri to Apple Watch at WWDC 2026. The goal is to provide personal, contextual artificial intelligence to an Apple Watch wearer.
Siri can now hold back-and-forth style conversations, which gives users the option to probe Siri for multiple queries in a row. A dedicated Siri app stores conversations across devices.
And thanks to Siri's access to a user's personal data, it can search across Calendar, Mail, Messages, Notes, Reminders, and more. It can share flight details with family, play songs sent by friends, and add new goals for Activity Rings.
In addition to personal context, Siri also has broad world knowledge. This allows users to ask about nearly any topic, such as recipe ideas, wellness tips, and even transit schedules.
Health & Wellness
A redesigned Workout Buddy offers insights and gives users motivation based on fitness history, utilizing data insights based on progress, distance, and workout duration. And now Workout Buddy doesn't need your iPhone nearby, either.
Indoor running is now more accurate, thanks to improved motion tracking algorithms. Users can accurately track indoor runs and walks from their wrists.
Perimenopause and menopause support has also been added. Users will receive alerts when cycle patterns are suggestive of perimenopause.
General improvements
A new one-tap gesture has been added in watchOS 27. Tapping your index finger and thumb together once allows you to select a widget in the Smart Stack.
Smart Stack suggestions have also been retooled. More widgets appear in the Smart Stack, including birthday suggestions, car locations, alarm changes, and more.
The watchOS Find My app has been improved in watchOS 27. Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People are now streamlined, making it easier to locate in a map-centric view.
Call Context gives users proactive information on their wrist while in a call. For example, if you call an airline, Apple Watch can proactively surface a confirmation code from Mail.
Other minor improvements include faster music playback, improved step synchronization across Fitness and Health apps, and battery optimization.
