Apple Music is preparing to add release countdowns for upcoming albums, giving listeners an at-a-glance timer showing how long remains before new music becomes available. The countdown appears directly on an album's page beneath the search bar.
The upcoming feature was shared by pdfu on X, who found it hidden in Wednesday's beta.
The feature is currently hidden behind a flag in iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2. As Apple is still testing the feature, it's not clear when it could roll out to the public.
A counter like this would make pre-added albums more useful in Apple Music, giving fans a visual reminder of when a highly anticipated album will release.
Apple released the iOS 27.2 beta on Wednesday, September 16. It introduces a redesigned Health app with Apple Intelligence-powered insights, expands Siri AI localization to five additional languages, and brings dual-camera capture to group FaceTime calls.
