Apple announced sweeping price increases across its product lineup yesterday, including raising the base price of the MacBook Neo from $599 to $699.
As something of a consolation, Apple today added the MacBook Neo to its Certified Refurbished store. This gives shoppers a way to save, while still buying directly from Apple.
You can, however, get a brand new MacBook Neo for even less on Amazon …
As spotted by MacRumors, Apple’s refurbished MacBook Neo with 256GB is available for $599. The higher-end configuration with 512GB and Touch ID is selling for $679. Both models are available in all four colors, including Blush, Citrus, Indigo, and Silver.
Here’s how Apple describes its refurbished store:
- Quality products at great prices
- Rigorous refurbishment process prior to sale
- Covered by Apple’s one-year limited warranty
- Covered by Apple’s 14-day returns policy
- AppleCare product can be purchased
- Engraving and gift wrap not available for refurbished products
In the box, you’ll find MacBook Neo, a 20W USB-C power adapter, and a USB-C charging cable.
Apple’s Certified Refurbished store stock can vary wildly. It’s unclear how much inventory the company has on hand for the refurbished MacBook Neo.
There’s a better way to save
While it is great to see Apple add the MacBook Neo to its Certified Refurbished store, it’s not the best way to save on MacBook Neo. Over on Amazon, Apple’s recent price increases haven’t yet gone into effect. This means you can actually get a brand new base-model MacBook Neo for less on Amazon than a refurbished one costs from Apple.
Even though you can technically save by buying the Touch ID model from Apple’s refurbished store, I’d much rather spend the extra $10 to get a brand new one on Amazon.
This is my recommendation for anyone in the market for a MacBook Neo. It’s impossible to know when Amazon will jack up prices to match Apple’s offering, but it likely won’t be much longer.
