Apple is donating to first responders and relief efforts in Indonesia following the deadly earthquake that has left thousands displaced and triggered more than a 1,000 aftershocks.

On August 16, a magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck eastern Indonesia. At the time of publication, the death toll is near 70.

Over 200 have been injured, and thousands more have been driven from their homes. According to Reuters, nearly 1,000 aftershocks were detected in the 24 hours following the initial strike.

As expected, Apple is stepping in to donate to first responders and relief efforts. CEO Tim Cook posted about Apple's intentions on X on Tuesday:

Our hearts are with the people of Indonesia following the devastating earthquake. We are grateful for the first responders giving support and helping those in need. Apple is donating to support the relief efforts on the ground.

Apple routinely donates to relief efforts worldwide. In July, Cook promised relief donations following wildfires in Europe and earthquakes in Japan.

In October 2025, it pledged aid to relief efforts after Hurricane Melissa struck the Caribbean.

The following month, it offered aid in the wake of a deadly fire that devastated a high-rise apartment complex in Hong Kong.
