A fresh batch of iPhone Duo apps is rolling out just as Apple’s first foldable reaches customers. And that includes many very popular titles.

Software can make or break a new form factor, especially for foldables. Apps built for the larger inner display show more at once and adapt to how you fold the phone.

The new iPhone Duo apps pack

Many early reviews of the iPhone Duo pointed out that some popular apps weren’t yet optimized for the foldable’s large inner display, limiting the benefits of its new form factor. Although existing iPhone apps worked on the device, they often failed to take advantage of the extra screen space. Apple clearly wanted to address that criticism.

The iPhone maker highlighted a long list of optimized apps and games on Thursday. New App Store collections go live Friday, and a “Made for iPhone Duo” badge will mark apps built for the foldable.

Many streaming apps updated

Streaming gets an early boost. With the Netflix app, iPhone Duo users can scroll through Clips on the other side of the display. Open the phone, and you keep watching on the inner display.

Prime Video and Paramount+ also join Apple TV in using the larger canvas. When partially folded, Prime Video will play the show on the top half. X-Ray cast details appear on the bottom half.

MLB takes a similar approach. Set the phone on a table, and the live game will play on the upright half. The half resting on the table is filled with real-time stats.

Split View brings side-by-side productivity apps to iPhone

Split View multitasking on the iPhone Duo lets you open two apps side by side, and productivity apps are the obvious winners.

Microsoft Word and Outlook will show up with a desktop-class layout in the coming weeks. Word will show formatting tools beside your document, and Outlook will show your inbox next to a full message.

Zoom shows up shared content and participants at the same time, while Slack brings the whole workspace into view. Bear, Notewise and Things are also on Apple’s list. Fantastical will show calendar, menus and tasks together.

Games and creative apps get more room

Apple says its A20 Pro processor paired with the custom vapor chamber delivers up to 35% more sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. That could be useful in long gaming sessions on the iPhone Duo.

In Asphalt Legends, players can race more than 350 cars against up to seven online opponents. The Delta retro game emulator fully supports the foldable too — especially useful for DS emulation. And these are just the tip of the iceberg. A great many games have been written specifically to take advantage of the new form factor.

Creators get more space as well. Instagram’s Edits app will show the full timeline, editing tools, and video all at once. Detail uses Apple’s new Core AI framework so it can run AI models on the device.

Then there’s Deck-Man. Open the Duo to pick an album and insert the tap. Now, close it and music from Apple Music starts playing.

Older apps still work, but with caveats

To be clear, existing, non-updated iOS apps still run on iPhone Duo; not all of them will look great. Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK appear in the middle part of the inner display, with space around them.

But those built with iOS 27.1 SDK or later extend edge to edge. Still, not every app is ready. Word, Outlook and DoorDash are still en route. Apple says more updates will be coming throughout the year, so expect the list to keep growing.

Pricing and availability

iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the US. It comes in star white and night sky, with storage options running from 256GB to 2TB. Apple says customers in more than 70 countries and regions can get one starting Friday, October 23.
