On Monday, Apple released a firmware update for AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2. The build number is 9A350.

The firmware arrives alongside iOS 27, which brings new audio controls to several AirPods models. The update expands customization options in Apple's latest operating systems.

iOS 27 adds a customizable equalizer for AirPods Max 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4. Users can manually adjust low, mid, and high frequencies instead of relying on Apple's default sound profile.

Equalizer settings are stored on the AirPods themselves, allowing the selected profile to carry across connected devices. The settings also display the current audio waveform while users adjust each frequency range.

Monday's firmware update will install automatically for users when AirPods are plugged into their charging case, if applicable, and connected to an iOS device. There is no manual installation method for this firmware update.

AirPods users can check the current firmware for their audio accessories by accessing the Settings app on their iPhone or iPad.
