In spite of not releasing the lower-priced base iPhone 18 model, Apple's Q4 2026 has broken records and beat out what was seen as an unprecedented holiday quarter just a few years ago.
Pundits continue to be confused by Apple's repeat record-breaking quarters in spite of not building its own AI frontier model. Instead, Apple has reached new revenue highs on iPhone demand, superior Mac hardware, and continued innovation across its product lines.
While Q4 2026 isn't what you'd call a "blow away," it is a year-over-year increase in revenue at $114.5 billion. That number would have been considered incredible for a holiday quarter just a few years ago — handily beating the Covid-fueled $111.4 billion earned in Q1 2021.
Revenue was also helped by higher prices across Apple's product lines. The increased revenues are likely obfuscating unit shipment changes that are less ideal.
That said, CEO John Ternus did reveal that Apple has sold more Macs in the calendar year than ever before.
What might be even more interesting about the record-breaking Q4 is what is missing in this report. New Macs, iPhone Duo, and Apple's new Apple Home push did not launch during Q4.
While Apple beat Wall Street expectation in Q4, all eyes are on the 2027 Q1 earnings that will arrive just as the world cools off on AI. The company's push for vertical integration of hardware and software with private, local-first, and secure AI could mean it's the among the biggest winners in the AI race.
