As rumored, the new Apple Home Collection pairs LG and Schneider Electric hardware with home automation that keeps camera footage private, even from Apple. Unfortunately, nothing is shipping soon.
Apple HomeView is central to Apple's latest smart home push, with select Apple Home Collection devices available in December. Users can check cameras, unlock doors, and adjust the temperature without juggling separate apps or accounts.
The move shows Apple is poised to enter the smart home market, not as a device creator, but rather as a device manager. Partnerships with companies like LG would be mutually beneficial.
"Apple Home Collection makes it easy to choose smart home accessories with confidence," said Matthew Costello, Apple's vice president of Hardware Engineering.
"Working closely with industry leaders LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, we designed every accessory to work seamlessly with Apple Home, so managing your home is simple, reliable, and private."
Schneider Electric wall mounts are available when purchasing a wall-mounted Apple HomeView. Currently, customers have two choices: a $59.95 self-install USB-C wall connector or a $79.95 professional-install hardwire AC from Schneider Home.
Later, the options will expand to include a Power over Ethernet mount from Schneider Home for $129.95. Customers can also forego buying a wall mount, though Apple recommends against this.
Schneider Electric also offers two smart home accessories. These include a $199.95 Smart Home Thermostat and a $39.95 Home Room Sensor.
LG's accessory lineup covers indoor and outdoor monitoring, a video doorbell, a smart lock, and temperature management. Beyond monitoring, compatible devices can coordinate temperature changes, lock doors, and activate cameras as household members leave or return.
Camera footage is processed on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, with supported iCloud+ plans storing 10 days of encrypted event history. According to Apple, camera footage and Home app data are never made available to LG, Schneider Electric, or Apple.
Eligible iCloud+ plans add Apple Intelligence video descriptions and natural-language searches, making HomeView more useful for checking what happened.
Apple says that availability will begin in December, with select accessories arriving in early 2027. Paid ADT installation will be available through Apple Retail for an additional charge.
