Apple WWDC26: Apple showcased iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and macOS 27 at WWDC26’s opening keynote Monday. The updates refine last year’s Liquid Glass redesign, add several new Apple Intelligence features, and introduce a host of quality-of-life improvements across the company’s devices.

Before you get excited about trying the new features, you’ll want to make sure your device is supported. Below, we rounded up the full compatibility lists for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and macOS 27.

iOS 27-compatible iPhones

Unlike iOS 26 and contrary to rumors, Apple is not dropping support for any of the older iPhones with iOS 27. The new OS will work with the same set of iPhones as iOS 26, starting from the iPhone 11 and going all the way to the iPhone 17 Pro.

The following iPhones will get iOS 27 in September this year:

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd gen)
  • iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, and iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e
  • iPhone Air
  • iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max

The most powerful Apple Intelligence on-device model will only work on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air. Older iPhones will also miss out on some iOS 27 features because of aging hardware.

Every iPad that will get iPadOS 27

iPadOS 27 will not come to some older iPads, like the iPad mini 5, iPad 8th gen, 1st gen iPad Pro 11-inch and iPad Air 3rd gen.

iPadOS 27 will support the following iPads:

  • iPad Air 4, M2 iPad Air and newer
  • iPad (9th generation or later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (second generation or later)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (fourth generation and newer)
  • iPad Pro (M4 and later)
  • iPad mini 6 and newer

Like on the iPhone, new Apple Intelligence features will only work on iPads with an M4 chip and packing 12GB or more system memory.

watchOS 27 compatible Apple Watch

Apple did not drop support for any older Apple Watch model with watchOS 26 in 2025. That’s not the case with watchOS 27 as it drops support for several older models, including the original Apple Watch Ultra, Apple Watch 8 and Series 9.

watchOS 27 will only work with the following Apple Watch models (or newer):

  • Apple Watch Series 9
  • Apple Watch SE (third generation)
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2

Apple Intelligence features will only work on Apple Watch Series 10 and newer models.

Macs that will run macOS 27

Apple confirmed in 2025 itself that macOS Tahoe will be the last major update for Intel-based Macs.

macOS 27 only works with Apple Silicon Macs, which launched in 2020 or later:

  • MacBook Air (M1 and newer)
  • MacBook Pro (M1 and newer)
  • Mac mini (M1 and newer)
  • Mac Studio (all models)
  • iMac (2020 and later)
  • MacBook Neo (2026)

Unfortunately, if you are still using an Intel-based Mac, you will need to upgrade later this year to use macOS 27.

While Apple Intelligence works on all Apple Silicon Macs, the most powerful Apple Intelligence on-device model and its features will only work on M3 or newer Macs with 12GB or more RAM.

Siri AI availability

Apple notes that due to DMA, it will not offer Siri AI in the EU on iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.

“Over the past several months, EU regulators did not accept any of Apple’s proposed solutions to bring Siri AI to the EU while safely supporting other virtual assistants,” says the company.

However, Siri AI will be available to EU users on macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27.

In China, the new Siri and Apple Intelligence features launch once the company gets the necessary regulatory approvals.

The new Siri AI will initially only support English.

Many Apple Intelligence features will have a daily usage limit, with an iCloud+ subscription offering users access to higher limits.

Developer betas are live

The first developer betas of iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 are already live. Apple will start a public beta program in July, with the final public release scheduled for September.
