If you ever wanted a more book-like reading experience with facing pages, more code references in the iOS 27 betas show a new design for Quick Look on the iPhone Duo giving you just that.
Following code leaker pdfu's revealing a minimalist redesign of Focus Mode for the iPhone Duo, they're back with more. This time it's another small update, but one that shows how Apple is sweating the details on iOS for the iPhone Duo.
According to pdfu, the change is in how iOS treats Quick Look on the iPhone Duo. Specifically, a document being shown in Quick Look will switch to being a double-page spread when the iPhone Duo is held slightly folded.
It's not a surprising addition, since the same thing has been shown by Apple over reading in Apple Books. If the user holds the iPhone Duo like a book, the e-reader screen also switches to a spread.
Quick Look is more familiar on the Mac, where tapping the space bar shows a preview of a selected document. But it has long been on the iPhone, too, although it takes more steps:
- Open the Files app
- Find the document
- Press and hold to get a pop-up menu
- Choose Quick Look
Depending on what the selected file is, currently you can tap on it to open the document fully in the iPhone's Preview app. Doubtlessly that will be the same with the iPhone Duo.
Then while it hasn't been shown by pdfu, presumably the double-page spread will work there too.
Apple is allowing potential buyers to configure their iPhone Duo and finance arrangements from October 12, 2026. Pre-orders then open on October 16, and the devices will ship by October 23.
