If the first Geekbench 7 figures for the iPhone Duo are legit, the A20 Pro processor hasn't been slowed down by the foldable's design choices.
It's not be a huge surprise that two iPhones with the same A20 Pro processor would show at least similar benchmark results. However, the processor is just part of the whole system, and the iPhone 18 Pro has room for a larger vapor chamber cooling system.
As first spotted by NotebookCheck, what the first Geekbench 7 results show, though, is that the performance of the iPhone Duo has not been materially affected by its thin and folding design.
The iPhone Duo even fractionally beats the iPhone 18 Pro in Geekbench 7's single-core tests. It's well within testing error margins, though, as iPhone Duo scores 3,986 compared to the iPhone 18 Pro's 3,980.
But even so, the figure demonstrates that the iPhone Duo will feel as fast as the iPhone 18 Pro in general use. Single-core tests show how the phone works for opening apps, browsing, and so on.
With multi-core performance, the story is the same. The iPhone Duo scores 11,067, while the iPhone 18 Pro gets 11,540. This too is well within the margin of error, and an insignificant difference.
There's a more pronounced difference in multi-core test scores, although the iPhone Duo is still at the heels of the iPhone 18 Pro.
Nonetheless, the iPhone Duo's multi-core score is still considerably higher than the iPhone 17 Pro. That model with an A19 Pro processor scored 9,909 in this test.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are available now. Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo begin on October 16, and shipping is from October 23.
