Apple reportedly held back on releasing new Apple TV hardware until its Apple Intelligence upgrades were ready, so expect the upgraded set-top box at any time.

The slow rollout of Apple Intelligence in 2024 followed by a delay and rethink has caused several pieces of hardware to get shelved. The long-rumored Home Hub tablet, the next-generation Apple TV, and the other Apple Home products all need the new Siri AI to get the most out of them.

According to the "Power On" newsletter from Bloomberg, Monday's launch of Siri AI with iOS 27 is finally what will allow these dormant products to release. Specifically, it calls out the updated Apple TV as due sometime this fall.

While Apple TV has never been Apple's most powerful product, it tends to get a modern chipset to run whatever version of tvOS is available at the time. The current model, which was released in 2022, runs the A15 processor.

Apple TV with Siri AI

Rumors suggest Apple will include the A19 or A19 Pro with the upcoming Apple TV. While that's not quite state-of-the-art since the A20 now exists, it is likely more than enough for the Apple TV.

That new chipset should come with more RAM, up to 12GB. Not only will that be useful for onboard AI processing, but gaming.

Yes, the Apple TV is often forgotten for being capable of running games at all, but the A19 chipset family is no slouch with its graphics capabilities. Slapping that chipset in a device with continuous AC power and active cooling could prove interesting.

However, the primary use case and pitch of the new Apple TV will be artificial intelligence. Siri AI will be much more capable on the device, plus HomeKit Secure Video camera recordings can be processed with AI analysis locally.

Given how many Apple Home products are expected later in 2026, there may be a special event held to announce them. Although, Apple has been known to shove things out via press release alongside short video productions for each product.

Whatever Apple decides to do, expect an updated Apple TV no later than November. The recent price hike to $199 and $249 should stick for the new hardware, which should also include a new Siri Remote.
