Apple has a lineup of multiple new Macs launching later this year. This includes the first-ever touchscreen MacBook, the first M6 machines, and more. Here’s everything we know so far about new Macs launching soon.

MacBook Ultra

The flagship Mac coming later this year is the first-ever touchscreen Mac. Whether this machine is called the MacBook Pro or MacBook Ultra remains to be seen, but it will be the biggest revamp to the MacBook Pro in years.

Apple is reportedly testing the high-end MacBook models with macOS 27.1, which will likely be released at the end of October.

This new MacBook model will be Apple’s first with a touchscreen and OLED display. It is also expected to ditch the notch design in favor of an iPhone-style Dynamic Island. Bloomberg has also reported the new high-end MacBook will be thinner than the current MacBook Pro design.

In terms of performance, the new touchscreen MacBook will use the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips as the current MacBook Pro models.

M6 processor

M6 MacBook

Apple is reportedly planning to launch its first M6 Mac later this year. The company is working on an updated version of the base MacBook Pro with the next-generation M6 processor.

According to reports, the M6 will offer faster memory bandwidth as well as improved performance across the CPU and GPU cores.

Other than the M6 chip, the new base model MacBook Pro isn’t expected to have any other changes.

iMac

Apple last updated the 24-inch iMac in October 2024, boosting it from the M3 to the M4 chip. Apple is now working on its next update to the iMac, reportedly set for a release sometime this fall.

The new iMac will likely be powered by Apple’s upcoming M6 chip. Another rumor is that the new iMac will be available in a new slate of colors.

Mac mini and Mac Studio (maybe)

Finally, Apple is also working on updates to the Mac mini and Mac Studio, but the release date of these machines is in flux.

For the Mac mini, Apple is reportedly testing a new lineup powered by the M5 Pro and base M6 chips. The Mac Studio, meanwhile, is being tested with the M5 Max and M5 Ultra processors.

According to Bloomberg, the release date for these machines is unclear and hinges on “the state of memory-chip supplies.” It was widely expected that the new Mac Studio would be released before the end of this year, but now that seems up in the air.

For context, the current Mac mini is available with M4 and M4 Pro chips, while the Mac Studio is available in M4 Max and M3 Ultra configurations.

Wrap up

Apple’s Mac lineup is in a bit of a weird spot right now due to industry-wide memory and storage constraints. Still, the company has a strong lineup of new models in the pipeline. What do you think of the new Macs coming before the end of this year? How much do you think the MacBook Ultra will cost? Let us know down in the comments.
