Apple announced the iPhone launch date, plus the M6 processor for an updated Mac mini right alongside the M5 Ultra in a Mac Studio, plus more layoffs impact the Vision Products Group and AI teams, all on the AppleInsider Podcast.

We all expected that Apple would launch the new iPhones on September 9, 2026, but it was only this week that the company confirmed it. Of course, it didn't confirm anything else, so we still have a while to wait before we know if the folding iPhone is coming, and if only the Pro model iPhones will be launched this time.

Then the global RAM shortage may have caused prices to go up and inventory to go down, but that didn't stop Apple from releasing new acs. There's also a new $9 polishing cloth, which might actually be Tim Cook's last new product release as CEO.

Layoffs hit a number of teams centered around Apple Vision Pro and AI. However, some employees were offered the ability to re-apply for other positions within the company.

Apple Music may soon get AI labels, which could start becoming visible to users. It's an interesting time to prepare such a feature, as Dr. Dre insists that more artists are relying on AI than some will admit.

Also, your hosts discuss how Apple's privacy position might make some analytics harder to collect. Being less visible to companies like Samba might make it appear as if Apple is losing viewership, but the reality is Samba's visibility is dropping.
