Chargers with displays have become increasingly common, displaying real-time information like the power output and temperature. Pexar is bringing the same concept to its PexarBolt Ultra Thunderbolt 5 dock.
It pairs a 5-inch touchscreen with 22 ports, up to 140W laptop charging and an integrated NVMe SSD slot.
A dock that shows what it is doing
Thunderbolt 5 docks typically stand out for their port count and power output. But the PexarBolt Ultra’s standout feature is the touchscreen display. It provides an at-a-glance view of active ports, charging power, bandwidth and temperature.
That’s not it, though. There’s a rotary knob that lets you switch between screens. It can also display the status and current phase of compatible AI workflows, including Claude Code sessions. You can tap the screen to confirm actions in AI workflows or get more details. This will require installing a companion desktop app, though.
Coming to the dock part, the PexarBolt Ultra promises ‘ultra’ connectivity. Pexar advertises support for up to two 8K 60Hz displays or three 4K 144Hz displays.

Its extensive port selection includes downstream Thunderbolt 5 connections, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, 10Gb Ethernet, CFexpress Type B, SD 4.0, microSD 4.0, USB and audio ports.
There’s also an M.2 NVMe SSD slot so you can further expand your Mac’s storage. The two front USB-C ports also deliver up to 45W of power, enough to fast-charge an iPhone, iPad and other accessories.
To keep everything running smoothly under heavy loads, the PexarBolt Ultra features a built-in fan and a large metal heat-dissipation system. The display can show the dock’s temperature and even warn about potential thermal issues.
Pexar plans to launch the PexarBolt Ultra on Kickstarter for a super-early-bird price of $479, while its eventual retail price will be $649. The Kickstarter campaign starts on September 8, 2026.
