While the iPad mini got its update in 2026, there are still changes on the way for the entry-level iPad, the iPad Air, and iPad Pro. You're just going to have to wait until early 2027 for them.

October saw the update giving the iPad mini an OLED display, as the last iPad update in 2026. However, Apple still has a number of other models waiting in the wings for their own makeovers.

According to Mark Gurman in Sunday's "Power On" newsletter for Bloomberg, the next batch of iPad updates will happen in 2027. It is claimed that the refreshes will take place in the first half of the year.

Those updates will include an update to the entry-level iPad. There's also an OLED update anticipated for the iPad mini lineup, too.

The iPad Pro will also get an update at some point, with a switch to the M6 joined by another change. The addition of vapor chamber cooling will help reduce thermal throttling for gaming and intense AI tasks.

Unless a model gets pushed back for some reason, Gurman believes that the updates will be arriving only in the first half of the year.

Predictions as expected

The report doesn't exactly cover new ground when it comes to the inbound iPad group. As usual, there have been similar reports in the past.

In June, Bloomberg reported that four iPad Pro models were being readied for a refresh in spring 2027. At the time, there were also murmurs of vapor chamber cooling in the iPad Pro too.

By July, the publication added to its claims, saying the iPad mini would be updated in October, the iPad in Q1 2027, and the iPad Air and iPad Pro in spring 2027. The newsletter reiterated the entry-level iPad claim in October.
