The premiere episode of Trying‘s new season is now streaming on Apple TV. Here’s what to expect from the feel-good comedy’s fifth season.

’Trying’ season 5 now available on Apple TV

Apple TV’s ‘Trying’ premiered in 2020 without much fanfare, but quickly became a fan favorite.

Starring Esther Smith (Hold Your Breath) and Rafe Spall (Shaun of the Dead), the show completed its fourth season in July 2024, but fans had to wait until May 2025 to finally confirm its return for a fifth season.

Now, the season premiere episode is available to Apple TV subscribers, with new episodes premiering every Wednesday through August 26.

Here’s what fans can expect from Trying’s new season, according to Apple TV:

Season five finds Nikki (Smith) and Jason (Spall) dealing with the consequences of Princess and Tyler’s biological mother Kat (Charlotte Riley) turning up at their doorstep, and the whirlwind of chaos she brings into their settled family life.

The season’s cast also includes Darren Boyd (Down Cemetery Road), Siân Brooke (Blue Lights), Celia Imrie (The Thursday Murder Club), Phil Davis (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Black Ops), and Colin Morgan (Belfast).
