Apple has unveiled its first-ever update to the HomePod mini, concentrating on how it can be part of a smart home setup alongside devices like the Apple TV 4K.
Announced as part of Apple's "Welcome Home" release, the HomePod mini 2 now comes in new pink and green options. The new update retains the previous blue, white, and midnight color choices too.
"HomePod mini 2 brings together Siri AI, gorgeous new colors, and incredible audio," said Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Home Product Marketing in a statement. "It fills a room with sound on its own, which gets even bigger in a stereo pair or with multiroom audio, and when paired with the new Apple TV 4K, it delivers our most immersive home theater setup yet."
Beyond the colors, there's no visible difference to the design of the HomePod mini 2. This means that externally, it is still the same as it was when first released back in 2020.

That's apart from a change to how the top of the HomePod mini 2 has been updated. It now pulses colors matched to the audio being played, in a feature called Sound Glow.
New processor, new features
Internally, however, there is a marked improvement in the processor. Instead of the S5, as used in Apple Watch Series 5, the new HomePod mini 2 features an S10.
Also, while it is not going to present at launch, Apple says that Siri AI will be coming to the device in a future update.
"With Siri AI, it understands you better than ever, drawing on personal context and broad world knowledge to make music discovery even richer," continued Drance. "And with just your voice, HomePod mini makes it easy to securely control your accessories and run automations across the connected home."
Apple has confirmed the rumors that the new HomePod mini 2 can be used in a surround sound configuration alongside the updated Apple TV 4K (4th Generation). That device plus the four speakers also recognize the positioning of each one in a room, and so calibrate timing and audio levels to the space.
The new HomePod mini 2 costs $149 and is available for pre-order now. It will be shipping from October 30, 2026.
