Apple One is getting better in iOS 27, with subscribers set to benefit from new features coming to bundled Apple services like iCloud+ and Apple Music. Here’s what’s new.
#1: Increased access to new Apple Intelligence features
iOS 27 is packed with big Apple Intelligence upgrades, including the new Siri AI, powerful editing tools in Apple Photos, improved image generation features, and more.
While these features will be free to all users, some of them will have daily usage limits—and those limits will be higher on certain Apple One tiers.
Some Apple Intelligence features, including image generation, have daily usage limits because they rely on powerful server models. Increased access is available with most iCloud+ subscription plans
Every Apple One plan includes iCloud+, but it’s unclear whether the Individual plan will get increased access to AI features. Apple’s wording implies that the cheapest iCloud+ plan won’t get higher usage limits, and that’s what the Apple One Individual plan includes.
It sounds like you may need Apple One Premier or Apple One Family to get the new AI benefit.
#2: HomeKit Secure Video gets four new upgrades
Another iCloud+ perk, HomeKit Secure Video, is getting four new features in iOS 27. Per Apple:
- 4K video: “supported HomeKit Secure Video cameras can now stream and record in 4K”
- Generated video descriptions: “users can quickly understand what happened across a sequence of video clips, even without watching them”
- Search in clips: “[users] can easily find what they’re looking for, like a package delivery”
- Noteworthy clips: “At the top of the Search page, the Home app elevates noteworthy clips that users may want to review, so they can quickly see important moments”
Each of these improvements will be available to all Apple One subscribers once iOS 27 ships. You’ll just need to have a compatible smart camera and home hub. My recommendations include:
#3: Apple Music improvements
Finally, Apple Music is getting a variety of new features and improvements in iOS 27 too.
- Redesigned artist and album pages
- Landscape Now Playing on iPhone
- AutoMix has “even better transitions that feel more immersive and engaging”
- AutoMix available on Apple TV and HomePod
- Hi-Res Lossless Audio streaming in tvOS 27
Additionally, Lyrics Translation and Lyrics Pronunciation are expanding to more languages. Per Apple:
Lyrics Translation will expand to seven new language pairings, seamlessly translating the lyrics from users’ favorite tracks from English to French, English to German, English to Italian, English to Korean, English to Spanish, French to English, and Japanese to English. […]
Lyrics Pronunciation, which enables users to sing along when lyrics are in another language, will also expand to include five new pairings, including Arabic to Romanized Arabic, English to Hangul, English to Katakana, Japanese to Hangul, and Mandarin Chinese (simplified) to Katakana.
Apple also highlights some key bug fixes that result in improved streaming reliability, faster Now Playing view loading, faster playback start, and more.
