iPhone 18 Pro is coming soon, and there are several reasons why it could prove an especially popular upgrade choice this year.

#1: Top-requested new features

iPhone 17 Pro was a huge hit for Apple—far more so than the company anticipated. While it’s hard to know exactly what deserves credit for its success, it’s easy to point to three fan-favorite upgrades:

  1. New design
  2. Better battery life
  3. Camera advancements

This trio delivers what many iPhone users care most about. And iPhone 18 Pro looks set to continue improving in these three areas.

iPhone 18 Pro will have noteworthy new design updates, best-ever battery life, and rumors point to an especially exciting year for camera upgrades.

#2: iOS 27’s compelling AI story

Over 2.5 billion Apple devices are in active use around the world, a large chunk of which are iPhones. And many of those iPhones won’t support iOS 27’s compelling new AI features when they ship this fall.

The new Siri and other AI upgrades give Apple a unique opportunity to convince owners of older models to buy iPhone 18 Pro.

Until now, Apple’s AI story hasn’t been the most compelling. But headlined by Siri’s overhaul, iOS 27 could be the update that sparks a fresh wave of upgrades.

#3: Reduced buying friction

iPhone 18 Pro will also benefit from two key ways Apple is reducing buying friction:

  1. Smaller lineup
  2. Apple Upgrade plans

For the first time since 2019, Apple is expected to launch only three new iPhones this fall. iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be the go-to flagships for many, while iPhone Ultra is reserved for early adopters and foldable enthusiasts.

Shoppers won’t need to research and decide between models that are all fairly comparable, like iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro were last year. Instead, in most cases they’ll balk at the price of iPhone Ultra and go with the more affordable iPhone 18 Pro.

Additionally, the new Apple Upgrade leasing program will make getting an iPhone 18 Pro easier for many.

The new model will likely cost around $30/month leased, with no other upfront fees—thus reducing some financial friction normally associated with an iPhone upgrade.
